During this day workshop you will learn the beautiful and skilful ancient art of flower pressing.

Working with seasonal and locally grown flowers and foliage, I will show you how to pre-select your blooms and condition them for pressing.

We will then work with some pre- pressed flowers, allowing you to create botanical artwork piece to take home. I will also teach you how to display and frame your artwork.

The cost of the workshop includes all mechanics, flowers and foliage. Hot or cold beverages will be served along with a slice of local yummy home-made cake and sweet treats.

PERFECT PEONIES WORKSHOP

Join us for a morning surrounded by perfect peonies!

Peonies season is fleeting between May and June, which makes these beautiful blooms so special and are one of our favourite flowers to work with. During this workshop you will learn how to work with peonies, including choosing varieties and how to care and style them.

We will create a stunning display for the home using sustainable floristry methods with Vintage vases, urns and containers, which you will then be able to take home.

You will also learn about sourcing local flowers, traditional hand- tying techniques, sustainable floristry and how to keep your flowers & foliage fresh for longer.

For this workshop we will be looking at the changing seasons & colour pallet and working with both fresh & dried flowers to create a stunning Autumn Wreath. Wreaths are not just for Christmas, & here we will look at the mechanics & dried seasonal flowers & foliage to create the perfect ‘everlasting’ Autumn wreath. 

With a big focus on colour & tone for this time of the year, we will show you how to incorporate dried & fresh flowers/ foliage along with additional ingredients such as feathers & vintage ribbons.

Using locally sourced dried flowers & foliage you will then create your own Autumn wreath to hang on your door or use as a wall hanging. These also make perfect gifts at this time of year.

During this workshop you will learn about the fascinating ‘Floriography’ which means ‘language of flowers. Dating back to Victorian times Floriography is a coded communication using various flowers to depict words. We will take a brief look at the art & history behind Floriography and then after a demonstration by Gillie you will create your very own coded message using dried flowers in a cloche. You will also receive a book about the language of flowers.
