Who We Are
I’ve always had a love of flowers & antiques, with fond memories of arranging my mum’s dried flowers into displays at a very early age. I would attend boot fairs and markets with my parent’s pocket money in hand, scouting for trinkets & treasures to display the flowers in.
My design career kicked off when I studied Art, Design & Visual Merchandising at London College back in 1996. During my time there I was lucky enough to win a scholarship to further my education and studied 3D Design & Fashion Styling at the famous FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) University in Los Angeles, California.
From there, I spent time as a visual merchandiser, creating beautiful window displays at various venues in London and surrounding areas.
After coming back to Brighton, I then focused my creative flair into Publishing & Design and spent the next 20+ years working in PR, Marketing, Advertising for various National and local titles. It was during this time that I used my creative eye to build up a collection of beautiful ‘Gardenalia’ (a term used for collectible items related to gardens and gardening) and architectural salvage.
“Finally deciding to move on from the corporate world to follow my dream of becoming a floral designer.”
I studied to become a florist at a local floristry school in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, which enhanced my skills and passion for everything floral and complimented my love of garden antiques perfectly.
Thus, FLORAL SALVAGE was born.
